Responsibilities
- Review construction drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications to accurately interpret project scope and material requirements
- Develop detailed cost estimates for HVAC systems by analyzing material costs, labor, equipment, and subcontractor quotes using estimating software such Planswift, Connect Construct, Plan Hub, Building Connect, Microsoft word, and Microsoft Excel.
- Manage project budgets by tracking costs throughout the bidding process and construction phases, ensuring adherence to financial targets
- Utilize Planswift and Adobe to review plans, annotate drawings, and collaborate effectively with team members
- Negotiate with suppliers, subcontractors, and vendors to secure competitive pricing while maintaining quality standards
- Prepare comprehensive bid proposals that include detailed scopes of work, pricing breakdowns, and schedules
- Review projects for bid and be able to provide any RFI's timely that need to be answered in order to put out a complete bid.
- Collaborate closely with project managers and management to ensure accurate estimation of labor hours and material quantities from blueprints
- Conduct site visits when necessary to verify existing conditions and gather additional data for precise estimation
Experience
- Proven experience in heavy commercial construction estimating with a focus on HVAC systems or mechanical trades
- Strong proficiency in estimating software such as Planswift.
- Skilled in blueprint reading, interpreting technical drawings, and reviewing construction documents accurately
- Excellent negotiation skills to secure favorable pricing from vendors and subcontractors
- Solid understanding of construction management software tools including Microsoft Office Suite (Excel spreadsheets), Procore (for detailed cost analysis), and other relevant platforms
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining accuracy under tight deadlines
- Deep knowledge of construction industry standards related to cost control, material estimation, budgeting, and contract management
- Construction site experience is advantageous for understanding real-world project challenges and estimating accordingly
