Job Title: After School Program Mentor (Qualified Mental Health Professional – Training Provided)

About Alternate Life Path (ALP):
Alternate Life Path, in partnership with Primary Care Solutions, provides free, personalized mental health and mentorship services to Ohio Medicaid recipients ages 6–64. Our mission is to bridge the gap between mental health and life balance through innovative programs, community connection, and individualized support.
Whether through after-school programming, 1-on-1 mentoring, summer camps, or life skills workshops, our team of licensed and qualified professionals creates safe and supportive spaces for growth.
Position Overview:
We are seeking compassionate, reliable after-school Mentors to work with school-aged youth in our structured after-school programs and 1-on-1 mentorship settings in Dayton, Ohio. This role is perfect for school staff, college students, and individuals who are passionate about youth development, mental health, and community empowerment.
Mentors will work in group settings and individually with youth, supporting social-emotional learning, positive behavior, coping skills, academic encouragement, and life skills development. Training is provided to become a Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP).
Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitate group activities for youth during the after-school program, Mon-Thur-3pm - 6pm
- May provide 1-on-1 mentoring for school-aged children and teens, either in-person or virtually
- Support children in developing emotional regulation, resilience, and healthy coping strategies
- Maintain accurate documentation of all client interactions in compliance with Medicaid guidelines
- Collaborate with parents/guardians, school staff, and mental health providers when appropriate
- Attend mandatory trainings and team meetings
- Uphold a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment for all participants
- Work locations are based on program need and may be at our office location or in the community, school, center, or church.
- May be required to drive van to pick up students depending on site placement.
Requirements:
- Proof of education: Minimum, High School diploma experience, College degree preferred
- Previous experience working with youth (school, camp, childcare, mental health, etc.)
- Must pass an FBI background check and fingerprinting
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Flexibility, patience, and commitment to trauma-informed, strengths-based care
- Reliable transportation preferred
