Altenburg Machine and Fabrication is seeking an experienced Machinist / Fabricator to join our team.
We are an established machine and fabrication shop specializing in custom machining, welding, fabrication, and industrial repair work. Our projects range from one-off components and repairs to small production runs, offering a variety of work rather than repetitive production.
We are looking for a dependable, skilled individual who takes pride in their work, enjoys solving problems, and can work independently. This position offers the opportunity to contribute immediately while growing into additional responsibilities within our company.
Responsibilities
- Set up and operate CNC mills and lathes.
- Set up and operate manual mills, lathes, and other machining equipment.
- Read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
- Perform welding, fitting, and general metal fabrication.
- Machine and fabricate custom components to required specifications and tolerances.
- Use micrometers, calipers, and other precision measuring instruments to inspect finished work.
- Troubleshoot machining and fabrication challenges.
- Complete custom projects, industrial repairs, and small production runs.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in CNC machining, manual machining, or metal fabrication.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
- Experience using precision measuring equipment.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Dependable, detail-oriented, and committed to quality workmanship.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with both CNC and manual machining.
- MIG, TIG, or stick welding experience.
- Ability to set up and complete jobs independently from drawings.
- CNC programming experience.
- Experience in a custom machining or job-shop environment.
