The Opportunity

JJ Kane is seeking an Auction Payout Specialist to join our team in Birmingham, Alabama. This is an on-site position and an important part of delivering the trusted experience our customers expect.

As an Auction Payout Specialist, you will help bring the auction process to a successful close by reviewing transactions, reconciling sale activity, resolving discrepancies, and ensuring sellers and vendors are paid accurately and on time.

The Ideal Background

• High School Diploma or GED with a minimum of three years of experience in customer service, accounting, and administrative operations.
• OR Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of one year of experience in customer service, accounting, and administrative operations.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
• Comfortable working with numbers, financial transactions, and reconciliations.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Ability to manage a high-volume workload and multiple priorities.
• Strong problem-solving and research skills.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating with multiple departments.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and other Microsoft Office applications.
• Previous experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliation, payment processing, auction operations, accounting support, or financial administration is preferred.
  
  

Major Responsibilities

• Finalize and balance completed auction sales.
• Review sale transactions for accuracy and completeness before payout.
• Reconcile sale proceeds, seller charges, fees, deductions, transportation costs, and other applicable adjustments.
• Identify discrepancies and research issues before payments are released.
• Prepare and process seller payouts, including issuing and mailing checks.
• Verify seller and payment information prior to processing payouts.
• Ensure supporting documentation is complete and properly maintained.
• Work with internal teams to resolve missing information, incorrect charges, or other issues that could delay payout.
• Assist with researching outstanding or aged payout items.
• Maintain accurate records of completed payouts and unresolved items.
• Respond to internal questions regarding payout status and payment information.
• Follow established financial controls and company procedures when handling payments and sensitive financial information.
• Prioritize workload to ensure payout deadlines are consistently met.
• Assist with process improvements that increase accuracy, efficiency, and visibility within the payout process.
• Provide backup support and cross-training within the team as needed.
• Demonstrate consistent progress towards proficiency in areas of training (defined by training objectives document)
• Attend classroom and online training sessions to enhance skills and build knowledge
