JOB TITLE: Teacher on Special Assignment (TOSA) Administrative Support
DEPARTMENT: Elementary / Middle School
REPORTS TO: Superintendent / Principal
FLSA STATUS: Exempt
SUPERVISORY DUTIES: None (oversee and direct staff in absence of administration)
SALARY: Salary commensurate with the current Certified Salary Schedule based on education and experience, with additional compensation for extended contract days and/or administrative responsibilities.
SUMMARY:
Supports the day-to-day operations of the school by assisting with administrative, instructional, and student support functions. Serves in a leadership capacity to support staff, students, and families. Assume assistant principal and/or acting principal responsibilities in the absence of site administration while remaining on a teacher contract.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensures all decisions and actions are guided by the core principle of doing what is best for students.
- Assists in the implementation and monitoring of the school's educational program aligned with district goals and state standards.
- Supports classroom instruction through coaching, modeling, and providing feedback to teachers.
- Assists with staff professional development, including planning and facilitating training sessions.
- Maintains a visible presence on campus to promote a safe, positive school climate.
- Monitor and support student discipline, behavior interventions, and restorative practices.
- Assists with supervision of arrival/dismissal, recess, lunch, and other student activities.
- Supports communication between administration, staff, students, and families.
- Assists in organizing and facilitating meetings with staff, students, and parents.
- Supports coordination of special programs, including special education, English Language instruction, interventions, and student services.
- Assists with data collection, reporting, and analysis (attendance, achievement, behavior, etc.).
- Helps coordinate school operations including scheduling, testing, and special events.
- Supports budget tracking and resource allocation as directed by administration.
- Works collaboratively with staff to support school improvement efforts and site-based initiatives.
- Assists in maintaining positive relationships with families and community partners.
Leadership Responsibilities (as assigned):
- Serve as acting administrator/designee in the absence of the principal.
- Provides direction to staff to ensure continuity of school operations.
- Assists in emergency response and crisis management as needed.
- Supports supervision of classified staff and campus operations during assigned times.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred
- Valid Arizona Teaching Certificate
- Minimum of 35 years of successful teaching experience
- Arizona Administrative Certification preferred but not required
TECHNOLOGY PROFICIENCY:
Utilizes all appropriate, available, and relevant technology to support instruction, communication, and school operations.
