Clinical Responsibilities
- Provides psychiatric evaluation and treatment of the consumer
- Provides appropriate medication management of the consumer
- Utilizes assessment data to support a DSM-5 diagnosis
- Demonstrates the ability to recognize the elements of a crisis state and knows how to deescalate, resolve the situation or refer the consumer for hospitalization.
- Effectively collaborates with the collaborating physician if indicated, referral physicians, treatment team members and outside sources in the delivery of clinical services.
- Effectively demonstrates the application of child/adolescent specific competencies.
- Evaluates for side-effects of medication, particularly tardive dyskinesia and effectively addresses the problem.
- Practices appropriate standards of care.
- Written prescriptions adhere to recommended dose and other information as identified in the PDR.
- Practices according to the Certified Nurse Practitioner Protocol as outlined by the Alabama Board of Nursing
- Prescribes medications per the approved formulary for Certified Nurse Practitioner as approved by the Alabama Board of Nursing and Alta Pointe policy and procedures
- Effectively collaborates with supervising Medical Doctor in accordance with the signed protocol and formulary.
- Seeks clinical supervision and consultation as needed
- Accepts and employs suggestions for improvement
- Actively works to enhance clinical skills
- Documents per AltaPointe policy in a timely fashion
- Documents appropriate, complete, and clinically comprehensive psychiatric evaluations per AltaPointe policy
- Documents in a clear and concise manner, consumer symptoms and treatment
- Documents legibly
- Completes all documentation and paperwork as per AltaPointe policy
- Follows Department of Medical Records guidelines for documentation
- Reports adverse incidents involving consumers to the Performance Improvement department per AltaPointe policy and procedures for review.
- Effectively manages caseload based on consumer needs
- Meets AltaPointe productivity standards
