What are the responsibilities and job description for the CNC Lathe Set Up/Operator position at Altamont Manufacturing, Inc.?
JOB SUMMARY:
- Set up and Operating CNC Lathe in a Production environment.
- Working with Manufacturing Engineering to develop Part Methods to minimize changes and shorten lead times through production.
- Working with Engineering & Customer to resolve drawing issues & manufacturing problems.
- Supporting the manufacturing floor to minimize down time, solve problems and optimize cycle times.
- Working with machinists to solve manufacturing problems.
- Checks accuracy of parts according to blueprint specifications. Checks parts for measurement of dimensions and tolerances (i.e. GD&T)
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
· High School or Engineering certificate from a college or trade school preferred.
· 5 years’ experience in CNC Lathe Set Up/Operation. ProtoTrak Lathe experience a plus.
· Computer skills including Microsoft Word and Excel.
· Ability to maintain machines and tools.
· Ability to recognize and address problems in the production process.
· Ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of internal.
· Ability to work effectively with team members and lead the team to high quality production within tight deadlines.
· Must be able to read and interpret engineering drawings/blueprints
· Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
· Organizational, planning and problem-solving skills.
PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Regularly required to sit, stand, or walk the duration of shift, 8-10 hours.
- Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, reach or bend.
- Regularly lift, push, or pull up to 40 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision in which 20/20 vision or corrected vision to 20/20 vision is required.
- Occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts.
- Occasionally required to work on the production floor as it relates to the job duties and responsibilities.
- The noise level in the work environment is sometimes loud when working in the plant, in which hearing protection is required.
