JOB DESCRIPTION

I. TITLE OR CLASSIFICATION

Transitional Kindergarten Teacher

II. DESCRIPTION OF POSITION

A credentialed facilitator of learning of children in transitional kindergarten, who provides for each child, experiences towards the development of the child’s intellectual, physical, emotional and social growth.  

III. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES     

1. Provides an educational program that accommodates different learning styles, backgrounds and ability levels of children.

1. Provides math readiness and reading readiness utilizing appropriate learning activities. Also provides opportunities to explore social studies, art, music and science utilizing appropriate learning activities and course of study as adopted by the Board of Education.

     3. Provide a program in physical education utilizing activities that include large and small muscle control, coordination and           safety.

     4. Creates an environment conducive to sequential learning experiences in order to motivate and stimulate pupils and best           utilize the available time for instruction.

1. Develops plans and uses instructional materials that provide for individual and group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil.

1. Guides pupils in the development of good citizenship and basic human relations as specified in state law and local administrative regulations.

1. Guides children in learning to work and live cooperatively with others and in learning to respect others feelings and property.

1. Guide children to an understanding of their own self-worth and the worth of every person.

1. Provides an atmosphere conducive to the development of a positive attitude toward the school community, his peers, and himself.

1. Establishes standards of pupil behavior beneficial to achieving positive learning atmosphere in the classroom.
