General Summary

Our School Based Behavior Technicians (BT) work in schools located in the Denver area with learners aged 36 months to 21 years of age. BTs work independently and collaboratively with their fellow Fireflies, school personnel, & clients to ensure ongoing success.

Supervisor’s Title:   

Reports to the Director of Clinical Operations

Essential Skills and Qualifications

  • Registered Behavior Technician certificate or willingness to obtain certification.
  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Bachelor’s degree or 4 years working with children.
  • Adequate oral communication skills.
  • Willingness to be trained in Professional Crisis Management.

  • Maintaining confidentiality of clients and their families. 
  • Ability to meet deadlines and independently manage tasks.
  • Knowledge and experience with assistive technology.
  • Ability to accept and implement feedback.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Skilled in problem solving instructional and treatment programs.
  • Skilled in social skill development.
  • Ability to Build rapport with each client.
  • Ability to create and maintain motivation while working with clients.

Performance Expectations:

Daily: 

  • Within billable sessions with clients: 
  • Record and graph data for behavior reduction and skill acquisition programming.
  • Implement skill acquisition and behavior reduction programming with clients.
  • Independently problem solve when new challenging behavior/issues come up during session.
  • Implement training for caregivers and school personnel, as requested by the supervisor.
  • Convert appointments in central reach with appropriate data collection and session notes.

Weekly: 

  • Attend and participate in weekly all staff meetings.
  • Communicate with supervisor on any concerns with treatment goals, challenging behavior, and/or issues with families*.
  • Issues to arise may include scheduling, treatment concerns, new challenging behavior. 
  • Review schedule and reach out to supervisor/scheduler if cancellations occur in each week.
  • Assists supervisor in additional tasks, such as assessments, probing new skills, completing ABC behavior data.
  • Assisting in making materials for instructional and treatment programs. 

Bi-Weekly:

  • Attend and participate in clinical meetings for outreach staff. 
  • Participates in initial and follow-up training in applied behavior analysis methodology.

Monthly: 

  • Meet with designated BCBA mentor.
  • Completes necessary training to demonstrate the knowledge of behavioral principles and instructional strategies. This includes implementation of complex curriculum and behavior plans, data collection, and analysis. 
  • Attends and participates in all training days for outreach staff.

Professional Development and Training:

  • RBT’s may be eligible for $500 CEU funds in their first year of employment (*Please note CE Funds are to be paid back if the RBT leaves the company within a year of use).
  • Annual Trauma Informed Care and Cultural Sensitivity
  • Annual Sexual Harassment Training
  • FEMA, HIPAA and MANE Training.
  • Case Management Training.
  • RBT Training.
  • May be assigned to other professional development and training as needed.

Physical Requirements of the Job:

  • Able to do the following for extended periods of time:
  • Sit
  • kneel on floor
  • Stand
  • Walk
  • Run
  • Able to physically manage teenagers/young adults, provide physical guidance, physical prompts, and bending.
  • Able to do frequent bending to accommodate and assist children.
  • Able to lift 50 Pounds. 
  • Able to move quickly and keep up with running teenagers/young adults.
