What are the responsibilities and job description for the Health and Wellness Assistant position at Alta Loma, LLC?
The Health and Wellness Assistant's responsibilities include: supervising clients to maintain a safe and healthy environment for staff and clients, communicating and documenting client activities, and driving a company vehicle to ensure clients arrive safely and on time for scheduled activities. They also assist with planning, developing, organizing, implementing, and directing individual and group activities/recreation within the facility.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Organize, lead, and promote interest in recreational activities to the clients.
- Facilitate group outings and other events.
- Explain the rules of activities and instruct clients at a variety of skill levels.
- Document activity interventions and client progress in the medical record per facility documentation requirements.
- Identifies facility and community resources that can contribute to the health and wellness program.
- Plans and schedules activities and develops a monthly calendar of activities.
- Conduct Recreation and Health and Wellness assessments.
- Seek supervision and support when complications arise in dealing with a client in an individual or group setting.
- Enforce safety rules to prevent injury and modify activities to suit the needs of specific groups/individual sessions.
- Organize and set up equipment accordingly that is used in recreational activities.
- Always demonstrate a positive, empathetic, and professional attitude towards clients. Recognize that patient safety is a top priority.
OTHER FUNCTIONS:
- Perform other functions and tasks as assigned by the Health and Wellness Director.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Associate’s degree in activity therapy or related field preferred.
- Previous experience in recreation in a healthcare setting with knowledge of patient population served by the facility also preferred.
LICENSES/DESIGNATIONS/CERTIFICATIONS:
- CPR and de-escalation/restraint certification required (training available upon hire and offered by facility).
- CTRS, Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist
- TRS/TXC, Texas Certified Recreation Specialist
- Activity Professional Certified through NCCAP
