Telecommunications Engineer Specialist
Location: Tampa, FL
McDill AFB
Security Clearance: Secret required to start
Responsibilities:
• Collaborate with network staff to ensure the smooth and reliable operation of software and systems supporting business objectives.
• Work with executive team members, decision makers, and stakeholders to define business requirements and resolve system issues.
• Design and define network architecture for new or existing computer systems, including performing complex network development and design work.
• Participate in upgrading operating systems and enhancing network capabilities, providing input for documentation of networks.
• Develop and conduct tests to verify networks meet documented user requirements.
• Identify, analyze, and resolve network problems, providing training and technical guidance to team members.
• Determine network specifications, input/output processes, and hardware/software compatibility parameters.
• Lead, mentor, and motivate a team of network engineers and administrators, fostering a collaborative environment.
• Collaborate with management to develop network strategies aligned with organizational goals.
• Lead troubleshooting efforts, ensuring minimal downtime and rapid incident response.
• Set performance goals for the network team and promote knowledge sharing and continuous learning.
• Act as a point of escalation for technical challenges or critical incidents.
Requirements:
• 5 years of related Network Engineering experience
• Must possess and maintain a Secret security clearance
• BA/BS degree
• Must possess a completed CCNA certification
• Must meet DOW 8750 requirements and be eligible for IAT level II access; must obtain ITIL V4 Foundation within six months of hire
• Knowledge and experience with routing and switching protocols (e.g., OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, SpanningTree Protocol, ISAKMP, ESP, SIP, SCCP)
• Experience with current Cisco IOS and Juniper JUNOS hardware and software features
• Ability to configure and troubleshoot Multicast, DMVPN, and GRE tunnels
• Team-oriented, collaborative mindset with ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong attention to detail
• Results-driven, energetic, and highly motivated
