You'll make a significant impact by minimizing the effects of mechanically related “in-service” issues on the traveling public. Day-to-day, you’ll work closely with teams across the business (operating crews, dispatch center staff), provide technical assistance and guidance to crew members troubleshooting mechanical problems, support the development of Risk Assessments, review HSE processes and procedures to ensure compliance, and much more."

We’ll look to you for:

  • Providing technical expertise to resolve mechanical issues efficiently.
  • Supporting operating crews in troubleshooting equipment problems.
  • Offering guidance to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Collaborating with the dispatch center to optimize train cycles and minimize disruptions.
  • Developing and reviewing Risk Assessments to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
  • Ensuring Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) processes align with company and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintaining strong technical knowledge to address evolving challenges.
  • Proactively identifying opportunities to improve operational resilience.
  • Supporting a culture of continuous learning and adaptability within the team.
  • Reviewing and enhancing HSE procedures to ensure compliance at all levels of the business.

All About You

We value passion and attitude over experience. That’s why we don’t expect you to have every single skill. Instead, we’ve listed some that we think will help you succeed and grow in this role:

  • Degree in Engineering, Mechanical Systems, or a related field.
  • Experience or understanding of troubleshooting mechanical problems and providing technical guidance.
  • Knowledge of regulatory standards and compliance within the transportation or engineering sectors.
  • Familiarity with equipment/train cycles and operational processes.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to interact effectively with operating crews and dispatch center staff.
  • Ability to develop Risk Assessments and support HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) processes.
  • Resilience and adaptability to manage high-pressure situations and minimize service disruptions.
  • Leadership mindset to provide guidance and technical assistance to team members.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills for identifying and resolving complex mechanical issues.
  • Continuous learning mindset to stay updated with industry standards and best practices.
