What are the responsibilities and job description for the Vice President of Revenue Cycle Management position at Alsos Behavioral Health?
Alsos Behavioral Health is a multi-state addiction-treatment company focused on Medicaid and safety-net substance use disorder care. We are building a scalable residential addiction-treatment platform where patient access, strong census, admissions speed, documentation discipline, and operational execution all matter. Our teams work across clinical, operational, financial, and technology functions to improve access to care and strengthen the systems that support sustainable treatment delivery.
Alsos Behavioral Health is seeking a Vice President of Revenue Cycle Management to lead enterprise revenue-cycle performance across our facilities. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, this executive will lead revenue-cycle staff and functions across billing, collections, denials, payer follow-up, medical-record requests, patient responsibility, collectible receivables, and related payer workflows.
This is a hands-on leadership role for an RCM operator who can combine deep revenue-cycle expertise with proven AI-building capability. The VP will personally help design, build, test, deploy, and improve AI agents that move appropriate routine RCM work from manual queues into controlled production workflows while preserving human judgment, approvals, and exception handling.
This is not an AI-strategy-only position. The successful candidate must be able to show examples of AI agents they personally built and put into production in revenue cycle, explain what they built versus what others or vendors contributed, and demonstrate measurable results in collections, follow-through, quality, staff effort, turnaround time, or other RCM outcomes.
Key responsibilities include:
- Set enterprise RCM priorities and operating architecture across people, process, technology, vendors, and automation in partnership with the CFO and cross-functional leaders.
- Lead enterprise billing, collections, denials, payer follow-up, medical-record/prepayment-review, credentialing/contracting-support, and service-to-cash workflows.
- Translate payer requirements into working procedures, decision logic, quality controls, and staff expectations.
- Build and operationalize AI-supported workflows for routine research, preparation, payer follow-up, and authorized execution.
- Use financial and operating data to identify revenue leakage, collectible A/R opportunities, denials, billing delays, and other process failures; then lead corrective action and verify results.
- Lead RCM staff through measurable performance standards, workflow adoption, accountability, and change.
- Work across facility, clinical, utilization-review, authorization, finance, and technology teams to correct operating causes of revenue loss.
Success in the role will include establishing a validated facility-level baseline early, protecting billing and collections continuity during transition, deploying priority AI agents into live RCM work, and showing measurable improvement in revenue-cycle performance. By 180 days, priority agent workflows should be operating consistently across important payers and facilities, with sustained improvement in preventable denials, unbilled aging, follow-up timeliness, collectible A/R, cash realization, and the quality and economics of automated work.
Compensation and work arrangement:
- Base salary: $170,000–$190,000 annually
- Opportunity for performance-based incentive compensation tied to achievement of key revenue-cycle and business outcomes; final incentive structure will be determined separately
- Remote position
- Travel required approximately once per month for Executive Week
Required:
- At least 5 years of revenue-cycle management experience and at least 2 years of people-management experience
- Proven track record personally building and deploying AI agents in revenue-cycle operations and producing measurable operating or financial results
- Ability to define RCM processes and payer rules, connect required information and systems, test workflows, design exception handling, and put automation into routine use
- Strong working knowledge of billing, payer requirements, denials, receivables, collections, medical-record requests, payer follow-up, and cross-functional revenue-cycle handoffs
- Demonstrated ability to use financial and operating data to diagnose revenue leakage, prioritize corrective action, verify results, and lead teams through operating change
- Executive-level leadership capability with the ability to partner effectively with finance, operations, clinical, utilization-review, authorization, and technology leaders
- Ability to work remotely and travel approximately once per month
Preferred:
- Hands-on implementation experience with revenue-cycle, clearinghouse, denial-management, credentialing, authorization, or other automation platforms. Experience with Aura/NOVA, Waystar, Infinx, Adonis, Medallion, Adentris Prior Auth Autopilot, Circle Health AI, Silna Health, or comparable systems is a strong plus, but experience with any particular vendor is not required
- Experience scaling AI-supported RCM workflows across multiple facilities, payers, or teams
- Experience with payer portals, healthcare clearinghouses, denial automation, credentialing/contracting support, or comparable revenue-cycle technology workflows
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Health Administration, or a related field; equivalent relevant experience is welcome
Candidates should be prepared to discuss at least one AI agent they personally built and deployed in RCM, including their individual contribution, how the workflow operated, which decisions remained with people, and the measurable result. General familiarity with AI tools, vendor sponsorship, or participation in an organization that used automation is not equivalent to personally building and operationalizing production RCM agents.
