About the position
The Fire Assay Technician will conduct routine and non-routine analyses of geological samples, fusion, and cupellation
Responsibilities
- Crucible management and set up/prepare samples for fusion
- Perform fusion and cupellation processes using furnace tools
- Follow up on rush priority workloads
- Ensure all safe work procedures and standard working procedures are strictly adhered to
- Ensure cleaning and maintenance schedules are complete
- Observe established safety regulations and comply with all ALS health and safety policies and procedures
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Familiarity with all fire assay methods and their respective digestion volumes and finishing methods
- Strong analytical and mechanical skills
- Detail oriented individual
- Ability to effectively handle a high volume of work and time critical issues
- Computer knowledge would be an asset
- Safety oriented.
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs; Page 2 of 2 alsglobal.com
- Ability to work within a hot and dusty environment
- Clean shaven for Personal Protective Equipment (respirator)
- Ability to stand and/or sit for up to 7.5 hours per day
- Manual dexterity to perform repetitive tasks
