Duties
- Safely operate tractor-trailers within the yard.
- Move trailers to designated locations for staging, pickup, or delivery, adhering to yard layout and safety protocols.
- Conduct pre-trip inspections on trucks and trailers to identify any mechanical issues or safety concerns before movement.
- Assist with route driving when needed for short-distance movements or repositioning within the facility.
- Maintain accurate logs of trailer movements, inspections, and yard activities for operational tracking.
- Collaborate with warehouse teams and drivers to ensure timely trailer swaps and efficient yard flow.
Requirements
- Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with experience driving tractor-trailers, including manual transmission vehicles.
- Proven experience with freight handling, load & unload procedures, and route driving in various trailer types such as refrigerated, flatbed, tanker, or roll-off trucks.
- Knowledge of truck driving regulations and safety standards related to commercial driving and yard operations.
- Strong communication skills to coordinate with team members and ensure smooth yard operations.
- Physical ability to perform repetitive lifting, bending, and maneuvering trailers in a busy environment.
