About the role:
General Accountability:
We are seeking a Senior Financial Analyst/ Senior Accountant who will be responsible for supporting the Company’s objectives in general accounting, as well as management, group, and tax-related reporting, including sales and property tax returns.
Responsibilities
About you:
- Assist in preparing accurate and timely monthly financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and variance analyses.
- Maintaining the general ledger, supporting books and records, and various schedules for multiple legal entities, including the preparation of journal entries, coding of invoices, account analyses and reconciliations, and establishing new accounts.
- Prepare account reconciliations for more complex accounts and review account reconciliations and related adjustments developed by less experienced team members.
- Review journal entries prepared by less experienced team members.
- Develop strategies to expedite the month-end close process and meet deadlines. Leverage software solutions to maximize efficiencies. Assist the Accounting Manager in coordinating the month-end closing process for multiple companies.
- Communicate financial information to supervisors, department managers, upper management, and employees from other divisions.
- Contribute to the preparation of monthly reporting packages for presentation to the senior leadership team.
- Review, research, and explain monthly variances versus operating budgets.
- Support system implementations, business process re-engineering, and improvements in policies, procedures, and internal controls, as well as various special projects.
- Keep abreast of changing accounting practices, anticipate emerging requirements, and proactively assist in the development of new reporting strategies.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or other related areas.
- 5 years of experience in accounting, finance, financial reporting, or other related areas.
- Solid understanding of accounting principles, as well as practical experience in general accounting, financial reporting, and account reconciliation.
Physical Demands:
- Able to work in a standard office setting and use standard office equipment, including a computer.
- Able to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions
- Able to lift and carry files weighing up to 10 pounds
- Vision to read printed materials and computer screens
- Hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone.
