Job Summary (Legal Secretary): - Provide diverse secretarial support to the Legal Department, including attorneys, in Walnut Creek. - Maintain and manage attorney calendars, tickler systems, and scheduling for meetings and court appearances. - Review, organize, and index legal mail and documents for attorney action and calendaring. - Compose and handle correspondence, memos, and client communications as directed by attorneys. - Maintain organized and confidential electronic legal files, ensuring accurate documentation of activities. - Prepare discovery, pre-trial, and trial documents for court filings. - Schedule and coordinate all aspects of discovery for both plaintiffs and defendants. - Provide legal secretarial support for both short-term and long-term assignments. - Answer and screen phone calls; transcribe dictation and draft correspondence and litigation documents. - Assist and provide backup support to other secretaries as needed. - Stay updated on court rules and procedures. - Participate in departmental and company projects as assigned.Qualifications: - High school diploma or GED required. - Minimum 7 years of defense trial litigation experience. - At least 3 years of recent California Civil litigation experience. - Required experience in trial preparation.Skills: - Strong organizational and communication abilities. - Thorough knowledge of court procedures and rules. - Ability to work independently with strong initiative. - Proficiency in MS Word; familiarity with case management software. - Typing speed of at least 70 words per minute.
