Role Description
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented JR Construction Inspector to join our Middletown CT Construction Inspection Team. This is an excellent entry-level opportunity for individuals interested in starting a career in civil engineering, construction inspection, and infrastructure projects.
The JR Construction Inspector will assist the Resident Engineer and Chief Inspector with field inspections, documentation and administrative support for roadway, utility, drainage, and other civil infrastructure projects throughout Connecticut.
Responsibilities
- Assist with daily field inspections of construction activities under the supervision of senior or chief inspectors.
- Observe contractor work for compliance with approved plans, specifications, permits, and safety requirements.
- Document daily construction activities, quantities, workforce, equipment usage and site conditions.
- Assist with material testing coordination and verification, including concrete, asphalt, soil, and utility installations.
- Assist in maintaining accurate field notes, inspection reports, and photo documentation.
- May attend project meetings and assist with progress reporting.
- Occasionally may travel and ride with inspection staff to visit active projects and construction sites.
Education
- Associate’s degree in civil engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred.
- High School or GED is required
Experience and Required Skills
- No prior experience required — training will be provided
- Internship or construction-related experience is a plus
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Valid driver’s license required
- Ability to work extended hours, nights, and weekends as project schedules require
