As we expand our motive power footprint in St. Louis, Missouri, we are seeking an experienced Motive Power Service Manager to lead our local industrial battery and forklift battery service operations.
This role is responsible for managing field technicians, overseeing service performance, driving revenue growth, and ensuring best-in-class service for customers utilizing forklift batteries, industrial batteries, lithium batteries, and battery charger systems.
Position Overview
The Motive Power Service Manager will oversee all aspects of industrial battery and charger service operations in the St. Louis market, including technician management, safety compliance, service profitability, and customer satisfaction.
This leader will play a key role in building Alpine’s presence in the St. Louis warehouse, manufacturing, and distribution sectors.
Key Responsibilities
· Manage daily operations of forklift battery and industrial battery service technicians
· Oversee installation, maintenance, repair, and replacement of motive power batteries and battery chargers
· Drive service revenue growth, including preventive maintenance programs, battery replacements, and charger upgrades
· Ensure technicians are properly trained on lead-acid batteries, lithium-ion batteries, and industrial charger systems
· Maintain high safety standards when handling heavy batteries and DC power systems
· Monitor service KPIs, including response time, first-time fix rate, and profitability
· Develop relationships with warehouse managers, plant managers, and operations leaders throughout St. Louis
· Support quoting, job costing, and service contract development
· Recruit, train, and develop motive power technicians
· Coordinate with sales to identify cross-sell opportunities for batteries and chargers
Qualifications:
· 5 years of experience in motive power, forklift battery, industrial battery, or material handling service operations
· Leadership experience managing service technicians in a field environment
· Strong understanding of battery systems, battery chargers, DC power systems, and warehouse equipment applications
· Experience with P&L responsibility or service revenue management preferred
· Mechanical and electrical troubleshooting knowledge
· Strong organizational and customer communication skills
· Valid driver’s license
· Ability to operate in warehouse and industrial environments
Preferred Experience
· Experience with lead-acid forklift batteries and lithium motive power systems
· Background working for a forklift dealer, industrial battery distributor, or material handling company
· Experience launching or growing a service territory
