Production Manager – Printing & Packaging
The Production Manager oversees the end-to-end printing production process, ensuring the timely and cost-effective manufacturing of flexographic labels, digital labels, and flexible packaging while maintaining the highest quality standards. This role requires strong leadership, collaboration across multiple departments, and a commitment to process improvement, cost management, and quality assurance. Flexographic and Digital Background is required for this position!
Key Responsibilities
Production Oversight & Team Leadership
- Supervise and lead a team of printing operators, finishers, and production staff.
- Assign tasks, monitor performance, and provide training to maintain efficiency and quality.
- Collaborate with the technical, finishing, customer service, graphic design, quality, inventory, and shipping teams to ensure seamless production workflows.
Planning & Scheduling
- Develop production schedules and budgets to meet project deadlines and client expectations.
- Support the Inventory Coordinator/Scheduler in managing stock levels for label materials, inks, and other essential supplies.
Quality Control & Compliance
- Partner with the Quality Manager to oversee color standards, press checks, and material quality.
- Ensure that all products meet internal and customer quality specifications.
- Enforce safety protocols and regulatory compliance within the production environment.
Cost & Vendor Management
- Track and analyze production costs, identifying areas for cost savings and process improvements.
- Negotiate pricing and manage relationships with suppliers and vendors to procure label stocks, inks, tooling, and related materials.
- Work with vendors to develop new components that improve production efficiency.
Process Improvement & Equipment Maintenance
- Analyze workflows and implement improvements to optimize efficiency and reduce waste.
- Coordinate routine maintenance and preventive care for printing presses and finishing equipment.
Customer Communication & Reporting
- Work with sales and customer service teams to understand client requirements and communicate production timelines.
- Provide regular production reports, including key performance indicators (KPIs) such as production volume, scrap rates, and efficiency metrics.
Skills & Qualifications — Flexographic and Digital Background is required for this position!
- Strong project management and purchasing skills.
- Ability to maintain production schedules and budgets effectively.
- Knowledge of printing industry trends, technologies, and materials.
- Experience with color matching, tooling, and flexographic or digital printing processes.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and production management software.
- Attention to detail and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
