Maintenance Assistance (Path To Lead Technician)

The Maintenance Assistant supports the daily safety, upkeep, and operational efficiency of our rolling door manufacturing facility and production machinery. This position offers tremendous growth potential. We are actively seeking an ambitious, mechanically inclined individual who wants more than just a job—this is a defined career path designed to train, mentor, and elevate the right candidate into a Lead Maintenance Technician role.
Initially, you will focus on routine preventative maintenance (PM) checklists, shop organization, and assisting with equipment installations. Over time, you will receive direct, hands-on training on complex hydraulic/pneumatic systems, automated powder coating equipment, and advanced CNC machinery setup and troubleshooting, preparing you to eventually head the entire maintenance department.
Career Growth & Advancement Track
Phase 1 (Months 1–12): Foundation & PMs – Learn the layout of the plant, master the preventative maintenance schedules, assist with new machine installs, and maintain strict 5S shop organization.
Phase 2 (Months 12–24): Technical Mastery – Shadow complex repairs, learn basic PLC and electrical schematics, master tool setups for roll-forming machinery, and take on independent basic troubleshooting tasks.
Phase 3 (Beyond): Transition to Leadership – Take full ownership of the PM program, diagnose and repair CNC machinery independently, manage spare parts inventory, and step into the Lead Maintenance Technician role.
Key Responsibilities
Routine Preventative Maintenance (PM)
Perform routine, scheduled PM tasks on production machinery (cleaning, lubricating, greasing chains/bearings, and changing filters) to prevent downtime.
Conduct daily facility and safety walkthroughs to check fluid levels, inspect air lines, and ensure equipment is running smoothly.
Document completed maintenance tasks and update fluid/part inventory logs.
Operational Support & Equipment Installation
Assist with the assembly, rigging, lifting, and placement of new and existing production machinery and heavy equipment.
Help prepare and clean machine workstations before and after specific production runs or tooling setups.
Organize, maintain, and inventory maintenance tools, spare parts, and workshop supplies to maximize efficiency.
Basic Troubleshooting & Facility Care
Provide a "second set of hands" during complex mechanical, pneumatic, or electrical repairs on CNC machinery, compressors and roll-forming equipment.
Perform basic facility maintenance tasks, including minor plumbing, light fabrication, and clearing workspace obstructions.
Workplace Safety & 5S Alignment
Strictly adhere to all workplace safety guidelines, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) usage.
Take ownership of the maintenance shop and tool areas, keeping them exceptionally clean, organized, and safe in accordance with 5S principles.
Qualifications & Skills
Experience: 1–3 years of experience in an industrial setting, warehouse, construction equipment service, or automotive repair environment. Trade school graduates or individuals with formal technical training looking for a definitive career path are highly encouraged to apply.
Aptitude: Strong mechanical curiosity, a natural knack for problem-solving, and familiarity with hand tools, power tools, basic measurement equipment and use of a computer.
Ambition: A strong desire to learn advanced manufacturing systems—including hydraulic systems, pneumatics, and basic CNC operation/setup—and a clear goal to move into a leadership role.
Physical Requirements: Ability to reliably lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work on your feet for the duration of an 8-hour shift.

Pay: $22.00 - $28.00 per hour
