Position Summary
As a General Laborer, you will play a crucial role on our manufacturing floor. You will be responsible for assisting in the assembly, fabrication, and packaging of rolling steel doors and components. This is a physically demanding, fast-paced role that requires excellent teamwork, attention to safety, and a strong work ethic.
Key Responsibilities
- Material Handling: Safely load, unload, and move raw materials (steel coils, door components, hardware) and finished doors throughout the plant.
- Assembly & Fabrication: Assist skilled operators in assembling door curtains, barrels, guides, and hoods using hand tools, power tools, and pneumatic equipment.
- Machine Operation Assistance: Help feed materials into roll-forming machines, stamping presses, or saws under supervision.
- Quality Inspection: Visually inspect parts and finished products for defects, scratches, or alignment issues before packaging.
- Packaging & Shipping: Securely wrap, crate, and label finished products to prevent damage during transit.
- Shop Maintenance: Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area by sweeping, disposing of scrap metal, and wiping down machinery.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Experience: Previous experience in manufacturing, warehouse, construction, or general labor is preferred, but we are willing to train the right candidate.
- Physical Demands: Must be able to stand, walk, bend, and twist for 8–10 hours a day. Must be able to comfortably lift up to 50 lbs regularly.
- Tools: Experience using basic hand tools (wrenches, tape measures, screwdrivers) and power tools (drills, grinders) is a strong plus.
- Skills: Strong attention to detail, basic math skills (reading a tape measure to the 1/16th of an inch), and the ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Reliability: Dependable transportation and a proven track record of excellent attendance and punctuality.
- Safety Mindset: Strict adherence to all safety protocols, including wearing required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) like steel-toed boots, safety glasses, and hearing protection.
