Quality Assurance Manager
Alpine Fresh, LLC is seeking an experienced Quality Assurance Manager to oversee and support all quality assurance and quality control activities throughout our South Florida operations. This position reports directly to the Director of Quality and requires strong hands-on experience within the berry category, specifically blueberries, blackberries, raspberries, and strawberries.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of fresh produce quality standards, product condition management, inspection processes, and operational quality control within a fast-paced environment. This position requires a consistent on-site presence in Doral, Florida, with flexibility to work additional hours outside of standard business hours, including evenings and weekends when needed.
Key Responsibilities
· Lead and support quality assurance personnel while maintaining high standards of product quality, consistency, and compliance with company and customer specifications.
· Perform and oversee quality inspections on inbound and outbound product.
· Identify, document, and communicate quality concerns including defects, decay, temperature issues, handling concerns, and overall product condition throughout storage and distribution cycles.
· Collaborate with operations, logistics, procurement, inspectors, and sales teams to communicate findings, resolve quality concerns, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
· Implement, monitor, and strengthen quality control programs, SOPs, traceability procedures, and overall quality assurance systems.
· Assist with root cause analysis, corrective actions, and reporting related to quality failures and customer concerns.
· Maintain accurate inspection records, product reports, specifications, and quality documentation.
· Communicate directly with suppliers and growers to support product consistency and adherence to company and customer expectations.
Education & Certifications
· Bachelor’s degree in Agronomy, Agriculture, Chemistry, Food Science, or a related field preferred.
· Valid Driver’s License required.
· Valid Passport required.
· USDA grading standards training preferred.
Experience Required
· 3–5 years of operational experience, including at least 2 years in a management role.
· Prior experience in a QA/QC management position required.
· Fresh produce industry experience required.
· Strong berry category experience required, specifically with blueberries, blackberries, raspberries, and strawberries.
· Proven ability to lead teams, coach for performance, and effectively implement quality systems.
· Periodic short-term domestic and international travel may be required.
Essential Skills & Abilities
· Bilingual in English and Spanish (written and verbal) required.
· Strong organizational, planning, and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
· Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
· Experience using ERP and QA systems, or the ability to quickly learn new systems.
· Ability to work independently, maintain confidentiality, and exercise sound judgment.
· Strong cross-functional communication and leadership abilities.
· Results-driven mindset with the ability to balance quality expectations and operational priorities.
