Job Summary
Join our dynamic dental team as a Dental Assistant, where you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional patient care and supporting the smooth operation of our dental practice. As a Dental Assistant, you will be responsible for providing chairside assistance, managing patient records, and ensuring infection control standards are maintained—all while fostering a welcoming environment for our diverse patient community.
Duties
- Assist dentists during a variety of dental procedures including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry, ensuring efficient workflow through four-handed dentistry techniques.
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up dental tools, and ensuring all equipment such as X-ray machines and 3D scanners are ready for use.
- Take and develop dental radiographs (X-ray images), ensuring proper technique and patient safety in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Manage electronic medical records (EMR systems) such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, and Epic to accurately document patient information, treatment plans, and medical history.
- Monitor vital signs of patients when necessary and assist in medical imaging procedures to support comprehensive patient care.
- Maintain infection control protocols using aseptic techniques and ensure all dental tools and surfaces adhere to strict sterilization standards.
- Support administrative tasks including greeting patients as a dental receptionist, scheduling appointments, updating medical documentation, and handling medical coding for billing purposes.
Qualifications
- Proven experience working in a dental clinic environment with knowledge of general dentistry procedures and terminology.
- Proficiency with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix; familiarity with Epic is a plus.
- Strong understanding of infection control practices, aseptic technique, anatomy knowledge, and medical terminology relevant to dentistry.
- Experience with dental radiography (X-ray) procedures and the use of advanced imaging tools like 3D scanners.
- Ability to perform chairside assisting efficiently while maintaining excellent patient rapport.
- Knowledge of pediatric dentistry practices is preferred; experience working with children is a plus.
