Fireline qualified EMT-B and EMT-P to work on UTV based teams as well as single resource on Wildland Fires. Only hiring Colorado residents.

TEAM

We are hiring to fill 2 EMTPF and 2 EMTF Fireline single resource spots. Each EMTF and EMTPF will switch with switch cohort after 2 weeks or so. The goal is 2 weeks on, 2 weeks off.

We are also hiring for 1 to 2 RATS teams. 2 crews of an EMT and a medic to switch on and off an UTV. First UTV is ready to go (5/1/24), second is ordered.

Location: Equipment based in Gilpin County CO, deployed to multiple states in Western US

Travel Required: Yes. Travel expenses paid by company. Fly or drive depending on fire

Position Type: Temporary, fire season generally runs from 1 June – 31 October. Not 1099

Job Description and pay:

Alpine Emergency Resources is seeking the following positions:

Fireline Paramedic: Starting at $37.85/hr; $800/day.

Fireline EMT: Starting at $31.95/hr; $675/day

Bonus plan for each position starts at day 21 (paid in arrears) $50/day increasing over time. Paid to employees in good standing at end of season.

Medical direction in 48 states

Pay is based on a 16 hour day, 16 hour pay is guaranteed when deployed. Travel days are paid at half the negotiated rate. Training days are paid at $25/HR

Fireline assignments range from 1-21 days not including travel to and from the incident (which may range from 1-3 days depending on location). The RATS team is expected to mobilize within 30 minutes of accepting an assignment and arrive at the incident within 12-18hrs. Depending on team location, member travel may consist of driving and/or flying. The RATS module may stay on assignment for greater than 21 days, and in those circumstances the crew members will swap in accordance to federally mandated work/rest rules. There may also be opportunities to move from one fire to another with the RATS module after 2 days of federally mandated rest.

Work shifts while on assignment are 16hrs and RATS modules are expected to be available as a 24hr resource for the fire. All work/rest schedules will, however, conform to federally mandated rules and regulations.

Meals are generally provided on incidents, although per diem payments may be provided in lieu of meals if they are not offered by the fire. RATS modules are required to maintain self-sufficiency with food and water for up to 72hrs on any incident.

RATS crews will camp in established fire camps, remote camps, or unsupported spike camps depending on the incident and the assignment. Members must be prepared and equipped for any of these possibilities.

RATS crews are supervised by Medical Unit leader, Division Supervisor and Safety Office

Responsibilities:

Be comfortable providing ALS or BLS medical care in rugged conditions

Familiar with fire behavior, navigation, radio use

Ability to safely operate truck with trailers up to 18’, operate UTV on unimproved roads or trails

Maintain adequate fitness level for the job - NWCG Arduous pack test rating, ability to hike with 50-60lb pack for long distances, ascending and descending steep, rugged, or vertical terrain

Familiar with ICS system and incident chain of command

Daily training in navigation, radio use, austere medical scenarios

Work well in teams, both internally and interfacing with other resources and agencies

Required Certifications/Qualifications:

Medical

Current CO State EMT-B, EMT-A, EMT-I or EMT-P Certificate, minimum of 2 years in busy 911 system

OR

Current NREMT and non-CO state license, minimum of 2 years in busy 911 system

Current BLS, ACLS, certification dependent on provider level

Fire

S-130, S-190, L-180

Annual RT-130 Arduous Pack test

IS-100, IS-200, IS-700, IS-800

Rope Rescue

Desired, not required

Note: Alpine Emergency Services will be expanding into the REMS world next year. This is a great opportunity to get on board and get trained for next season. REMS training is re-imbursed after your first assignment, qualified individuals may be paid for.
