General Purpose

The Loan Portfolio Analyst provides analytics and reporting for Alpine Bank’s loan portfolio to aid in strategic initiatives and risk management.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

  • Responsible for providing detailed portfolio analysis and report preparation (Loan Composition, Pipeline, Legal Lending Limit, KPI).
  • Identifies meaningful ways to analyze and present information and highlights the risks in the credit portfolio.
  • Analyzes and measures credit and financial performance in the portfolio from multiple perspectives, including business lines, product, industry, geographic, etc to identify trends and drivers; summary conclusions and implications from the prepared analysis.
  • Researches, independently or collaboratively, to continually enhance relevant credit monitoring reports with analytics given current data structure and anticipated future enhancements.
  • Collaborates with other departments and stakeholders to continually enhance data quality.
  • Responsible for the development and execution of credit portfolio risk monitoring activities, including analytics and process enhancements as required by regulatory guidance.
  • Responsible for creating enhancing and maintaining reports on key risk metrics, concentrations and stratifications of the loan portfolio.
  • Performs research to prepare and provide clear and accurate information as requested by auditors, regulators, and other stakeholders.
  • Anticipates regulatory risk regularly monitoring the regulatory landscape.
  • Identifies risk factors that could impact the bank’s ability to be repaid and communicate it to the appropriate areas.
  • Responsible for loan coding, including call report coding, loan purpose, loan type and collateral codes.
  • Responsible for monitoring and managing the covenant review process.
  • Prepares ad-hoc risk management reports as assigned.
  • Regular and reliable on-site attendance is required as an essential function of this position.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Proficient knowledge in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Proficient Knowledge in Microsoft Power BI.
  • Proficiency in SEQUEL.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Demonstrates adaptability and change management skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • An understanding of financial metrics and regulatory/legal restrictions that may impact the portfolio is required.
  • An understanding of loan policy and underwriting standards is key to monitoring existing credit risk and research, independently or collaboratively, to continually enhance relevant credit monitoring reports with analytics given current data structure and anticipated future enhancements.

Education Or Formal Training

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Economics, or Accounting required.
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid State of Colorado Drivers’ License, required.

Experience

  • 2-3 years of experience in commercial credit analysis required; or comparable position or completion of a commercial banking training program.

Working Conditions

Working Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and multifunction printers. Travel to conferences, meetings and branch locations on a regular basis may be necessary.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This is largely a sedentary role. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus. Employee may have to lift up to 25 pounds.

Starting range of pay is from $70,000.00 to $100,000.00 per year, depending on experience.
