General Purpose

The Credit Risk Review Analyst evaluates the risk the existing credit portfolios, ensuring compliance and risk mitigation. The position helps to identify potential risks, make recommendations, and ensure overall quality of the bank’s credit assets.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

  • Leads development and enhancement of Credit Risk Review; establishes the review thresholds appropriate for the portfolio.
  • Compiles detailed work papers for presentation to bank management and external auditors, covering cash flow, loan trends, loan structures, industry trends, potential risks, and exceptions to bank policy.
  • Evaluates the bank’s most complex loans and investments, including commercial real estate (CRE) and business (C&I) loans to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies.
  • Conducts in-depth credit analysis on historical and projected financial information. 
  • Assesses individual loans to determine cash flow adequacy, collateral positions, and appropriate structures, ultimately assigning a loan risk grade
  • Reports findings, shares recommendations, and discusses the quality of the portfolio with Head of Risk Management. 
  • Trains staff on trends or gaps for loan officers.
  • Conducts independent review of the loan portfolios to ensure compliance with internal policies, regulatory requirements, and sound credit practices. 
  • Collaborates with other departments such as Lending, Compliance, and Audit, to assess quality of the loan portfolio and identify potential risks. 
  • Assess risks and opportunities within assigned portfolios and translate insights into actionable credit strategies. 
  • Conduct advanced analysis to identify trends, root causes, and emerging risks, providing clear recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Regular and reliable attendance is required as an essential function of this position.
  • Performs the full range of work assigned and other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications

  • Expertise in data analysis tools such as SQL, SAS, or similar platforms.
  • Understanding of banking security related regulations, policies and procedures and the ability to analyze account characteristics to assess potential risk.

Education, Formal Training and/or Experience:

AVP-VP

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business or other discipline required.
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid State of Colorado Driver’s License required.
  • Preferred 3-6 years working in Risk Management, Audit, or related area, with supervisory experience.

VP-SVP

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business or other discipline required.
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid State of Colorado Driver’s License required.
  • Preferred 7-10 years working in Risk Management, Audit, or related area, with supervisory experience.

Working Conditions

Working Environment:

This job operates in a professional office environment and. routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and multifunction printers. Travel to conferences, meetings and branch locations may be required on occasion.  

Physical Activities:

These are representative of those which must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

This is largely a sedentary role. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. Good eyesight and hand/finger dexterity are required. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus. Ability to remain calm and professional with intense conversations. Employee may have to lift up to 25 pounds.

Starting Range of Pay is from $100,000.00 to $130,000.00 per year, depending on experience. Actual pay and Officer level will be commensurate with experience.
