Focus: Construction Cost Management, Bidding & Project Coordination
We're looking for a motivated intern to join our team and gain hands-on experience in construction cost management, bidding, and project coordination. You'll work alongside experienced project managers and estimators, contributing to real projects while building foundational skills in the construction industry.
What You'll Do
- Assist in preparing project cost budgets, including preliminary estimates, detailed budgets, and cost baselines for both pre-construction and active project phases.
- Support bidding and procurement processes — help prepare bid packages, coordinate subcontractor outreach, and assist with bid leveling, scope comparison, and pricing analysis.
- Help review and analyze bids, subcontractor proposals, and material quotations to support cost comparison, value engineering, and award recommendations.
- Assist with cost tracking by monitoring actual expenditures against approved budgets and flagging variances.
- Help prepare cost forecasts, variance analyses, and financial reports for project managers and leadership.
- Track and document cost impacts from change orders, scope changes, and schedule adjustments; maintain organized cost logs and backup documentation.
- Support project coordination tasks, including tracking schedules, procurement timelines, and cost-related documentation.
- Collaborate remotely with architects, engineers, designers, and contractors to help maintain alignment on cost, scope, and schedule.
What We're Looking For
- Currently pursuing (or recently completed) a Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field.
- Basic understanding of — or strong interest in learning — construction budgeting, estimating, cost control, and bidding processes.
- Familiarity with project management concepts such as scheduling, procurement, and contract basics.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills; ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to read and interpret basic construction drawings, specifications, and scopes of work is a plus.
Preferred (Not Required)
- Familiarity with California building codes, permitting processes, or construction standards.
- Experience with Procore or similar construction management platforms.
- Working knowledge of MS Project or other scheduling tools.
- Chinese language skills.
What You'll Gain
- Real-world exposure to the full project lifecycle — from estimating and bidding through cost control and closeout.
- Mentorship from experienced construction and project management professionals.
- A deeper understanding of how cost, schedule, and scope interact on live projects.
- Portfolio-ready experience with industry-standard tools and workflows.
