Program Center Director Port Tobacco MD Needed for Full time Early Learning Center/daycare/preschool/school age facility. FULL TIME/SALARY/BENEFITS

90 hours of coursework. The 45 hour growth and development piece and then another 45 hour training in infant and toddlers methods and materials.

Qualifications:

  • An associates degree with at least 15 semester hours of approved coursework, or a bachelors degree in any field.
  • 6 semester hours, 90 clock hours or the equivalent of approved early childhood coursework( 45 hours in child development and 45 hours in curriculum planning OR Hold the CDA Credential issued by the Council for Professional Recognition OR Approved by the MD State Department of Education as a teacher for Nursery-Grade 3 OR Hold a teaching certificate form the MSDE or another state Nursery to Grade 3.
  • 2 YEARS of experience working with preschoolers in an approved setting(license child care center, church operated school, recreation and parks program, registered family child care home or similar setting. If approved or certified to teach, 1 year experience working with preschoolers in an approved setting.
  • ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
  • At least 9 clock hours of approved training in communication with staff, parents and public AND 40-45 clock hours or the equivalent of approved administrative training. If infants and toddlers are enrolled, have completed 45 clock hours or the equivalent of approved coursework.
  • 3 clock hours in ADA Compliance.
  • In-depth knowledge of health, hygiene and nutritional requirements of children.
  • Possess demonstrated professional level of verbal and written communication skills.

Position Objective:

The Center Director creates a safe and nurturing environment for young children to learn and grow and manages the program, employees and daily licensing functions.

Key Responsibilities:


CHILD SAFETY AND SUPERVISION

  1. Provides constant supervision of children by staying within sight and sound of assigned group. Adheres to policies and procedures in a pro-active manner, making the safety and care of children a primary focus.
  2. Follows licensing regulations/standards, such as reporting child incidents and proper health and hygiene procedures.
  3. Provides quality, nurturing care to infants and toddlers enrolled in the program.
  4. Attends to children's basic needs by feeding them, dressing them, and changing their diapers.
  5. Assists with potty training when applicable, due to developmental needs.
  6. Assists in emergency situations such as evacuation procedures and CPR/First Aid.
  7. Reports suspected child abuse and neglect in accordance with mandated reporter guidelines.
  8. Stays apprised of child-related food allergies, special needs and other medically sensitive conditions.
  9. Reports to Center Director any concerns regarding child behavior, sickness, health-related observations, accidents or incidents requiring medical attention or matters that should be reported to the parents.
  10. Inspects on a daily basis all facilities, equipment, and supplies and make sure all are accounted for and put away at the end of each day.

PROGRAMMING

  1. Plans and facilitates programming to advance the physical, social, emotional, and intellectual development of children.
  2. Works collaboratively with peers, shares program-related information and shares in collective tasks.
  3. Encourages creativity and intellectual curiosity by building on the child's interests and talents.
  4. Effectively implements innovative and engaging activities to develop physical and intellectual growth of children.
  5. Conducts and documents developmental screenings and assessments of the children.
  6. Develops schedules and routines to ensure children have enough physical activity, rest and playtime.

  2. Encourages each child's family to be actively involved in the program.
  3. Presents a friendly, positive, and warm learning environment.
  4. Promotes parent-child bonding and nurturing parent-child relationships.

  6. Greets infants/toddlers and their parents warmly and with enthusiasm each morning.
  7. Assures each infant is held and each child is gradually assisted to become a part of the small group of four.
  8. Talks, sings, and reads to infants and toddlers frequently.
  9. Responds quickly in a soothing and tender manner to infants' cries or calls of distress.
  10. Maintains a well-organized and clean space conducive to growth and learning.
