Position Summary:
The Medical Transportation Driver is responsible for safely and efficiently transporting patients to and from medical appointments. This role requires professionalism, compassion, punctuality, and a strong sense of responsibility in handling passengers with diverse mobility and medical needs. Drivers represent the company’s front line and are expected to deliver high-quality customer service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safely operate company vehicles to transport patients to and from designated medical facilities, residences, and related locations.
- Provide room-to-room assistance to patients with limited mobility, ensuring safe boarding and exiting of vehicles.
- Confirm patient identity and scheduled appointments prior to transport.
- Adhere to predetermined schedules and assigned routes; adjust to delays or changes as directed by dispatch.
- Conduct daily vehicle safety checks and report maintenance needs or safety concerns promptly.
- Maintain accurate trip logs, mileage sheets, and incident reports as required.
- Ensure vehicles are clean, well-maintained, and stocked with appropriate safety and sanitation supplies.
- Uphold HIPAA confidentiality standards when handling patient information.
- Communicate professionally with dispatchers, patients, caregivers, and medical personnel.
- Respond to unexpected situations, including patient distress, cancellations, or traffic issues, with appropriate problem-solving and communication.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- NO MEDICAL CARDS ALLOWED
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Valid state driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain during onboarding).
- 1 years of driving or customer service experience preferred; experience with elderly or disabled individuals is a plus.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and assist individuals with mobility limitations.
- Familiarity with local routes, traffic patterns, and GPS technology.
- Must pass background check, drug screening, and DOT physical (if applicable).
- Ability to remain calm and patient in stressful or time-sensitive situations while maintaining a professional demeanor.
- Proficiency in using mobile apps and basic troubleshooting of company software on smartphones or tablets.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
- Driving for extended periods in varying weather and traffic conditions.
- Frequent bending, lifting, and assisting patients with mobility challenges.
- Use of communication devices and transport apps while on duty.
- May require flexible hours, including weekends, early mornings, evenings, and holidays.
