Staff Development Coordinator

Position Summary
The Staff Development Coordinator develops and manages staffing and scheduling solutions by adhering to company policies and procedures to ensure sufficient coverage for all shifts within group home and day center settings. Provide training to the agency’s direct support staff and other professionals to ensure carryover of the training curriculum to onsite skill use. Recognize and use an array of available agency and community resources to make training activities interesting and practical. The responsibilities and duties listed below are representative and not all inclusive. This position is responsible to: people supported, Director of Operations.
Key Responsibilities

- Coordinate with State Training Director to maintain information necessary to ensure an effective and accurate statewide training system including assessing training; compile and submit monthly and semi-annual training reports; and ensure orientation is completed as per policy upon hire.
- Ensure the agency’s training program meets licensure regulations and accreditation standards.
- Ensure coverage is in place for staff absences, leaves, etc., adjusting schedules as needed.
- Monitor and record vacations, sick leave, leaves of absence, holidays, and absences in an electronic scheduling system.
- Work closely with supervisors to manage staffing needs, schedules, and job vacancies.
- Review and report any concerns or issues to the appropriate supervisor/manager following the chain of command.
- Coordinate with Day Center Manager in the creation of the weekly activity calendar and other documents as needed for activities; ensuring all activities comply with organizational policies, safety protocols, and licensing regulations.
- Be familiar with and follow policies and procedures; maintain documentation and submit paperwork in a timely manner; protect and preserve operations by following HIPAA guidelines and all applicable state and federal laws.
- Coordinate and schedule orientation training for newly hired employees including other agency staff as needed and appropriate; conduct orientation training segments and activities.
- Administer, or supervise administration of, and correct module competency tests ensuring integrity and security.
- Maintain a system for distributing curriculum modules, related teaching aids, and other training materials.
- Maintain necessary records to document training activities and individual staff training in Therap.
- Participate in staff training meetings and other training sessions organized by the State ID/DD Training Director.
- Serve on or lead internal committees.
- These responsibilities are not all-inclusive and include day-to-day operations and functions, which may include other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Qualification
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma, GED, or suitable equivalent; college or an associate degree in a related field and previous experience in scheduling is desirable.
- Experience in Developmental Disabilities and/or 1-3 years of experience in direct care in a similar facility is required.

Minimum Physical Requirements
Strength: Sufficient to assist with lifting and transferring a person(s), and perform CPR. Ability to lift twenty (20) lbs. Moving, lifting, or transferring of person(s) may involve lifting of up to fifty (50) lbs., as well as assist with weights of more than one hundred (100) lbs.
Mobility: Sufficient mobility to bend, stoop and bend down to the floor, ability to move around rapidly and in small, confined areas.
