Job Overview
Join our team as a Hazardous Materials Technician. The primary function of this role will be to work independently traveling to various Utility sub-stations throughout Central Florida looking for any environmental issues/ hazards, cleaning/ remediating them and documenting each site in detail.
In addition, you will potentially be handling hazardous materials, and perform emergency response activities. This position offers on-call coverage to respond swiftly to emergencies and requires a proactive, safety-conscious mindset to protect both team members and the environment.
Duties
- Respond promptly to emergency calls involving hazardous materials
- Safely handle and dispose of hazardous substances using personal protective equipment (PPE) and respiratory protection protocols.
- Conduct cleaning and restoration tasks utilizing hand tools, power tools, and other specialized machinery.
- Operate company vehicles responsibly to transport personnel and equipment to job sites.
- Perform site assessments
- Maintain detailed records of work performed, safety procedures followed, and materials used during each project.
- Follow strict safety guidelines to ensure compliance with industry standards during all phases of work.
- Provide excellent customer service by communicating clearly with clients about project progress and safety measures.
Qualifications
- A current 40 hour HazWoper certificate is preferred.
- Knowledge of emergency response readiness procedures and safety protocol adherence is essential.
- Familiarity with the use of hand tools, power tools
- Ability to operate company vehicles safely and responsibly in various conditions.
- Strong understanding of personal protective equipment (PPE), respiratory protection requirements, and safety standards in hazardous environments.
- Excellent customer service skills with a proactive attitude toward on-call coverage for emergency situations.
You MUST:
- Be 21 or over
- Have a clean driving record
- Be able to pass a Federal Criminal Background check
- Have reliable transportation to work
- Above average computer skills
- Be able to work alone
Pay: $19.00 - $21.00 per hour
