Commercial Estimator

Job Summary:  The Commercial Estimator utilizes Planswift, a digital takeoff software, to deliver swift, accurate, and efficient cost estimates for commercial siding and/or roofing projects. The successful candidate will demonstrate meticulous attention to detail, a strong commitment to meeting tight deadlines, and the ability to collaborate effectively with project managers, sales, and purchasing teams to ensure project alignment and operational success.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Conducts detailed digital takeoffs using Planswift software to analyze project plans, details, and specifications for siding and/or roofing, and cladding installations. 
• Reviews architectural drawings, specifications, and other project documents to determine the scope of work for commercial siding and/or commercial roofing projects. 
• Obtains and evaluates material vendor quotes and pricing to ensure cost competitiveness and compliance with project requirements. 
• Refines material lists by providing detailed feedback and collaborating directly with the purchasing department to optimize procurement. 
• Prepares and submits accurate job estimates to the sales management team, including comprehensive breakdowns of labor, materials, equipment, and overhead costs. 
• Works closely with project managers and the construction team to ensure estimates align with project budgets and specifications. 
• Continuously improves estimation processes and procedures to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and overall bidding competitiveness. 
• Maintains up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, material pricing, and advancements in siding /roofing technologies. 
• Assists in value engineering efforts to propose cost-saving alternatives without compromising quality or performance. 
• Tracks and documents project data to support future estimates and improve bidding accuracy.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with meticulous attention to detail. 
• Excellent time management, multitasking, and communication skills to meet tight deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously. 
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment and collaborate with sales, purchasing, and construction teams. 
• Strong understanding of commercial construction processes, siding materials (e.g., metal, vinyl, fiber cement), roofing materials, and installation techniques. 

Education and Experience:

• Proven experience as an estimator in the construction industry, preferably with a focus on commercial siding/roofing, cladding, or exterior systems
• Proficiency in digital takeoff software, particularly Planswift, or similar platforms (e.g., Bluebeam, On-Screen Takeoff). 
• Proficiency in Google Suite (Sheets, Docs) for reporting and documentation. 
• Proficiency in Monday.com, preferred
• Proficiency in Salesforce.com, preferred

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to visit job sites as needed, which may involve walking, climbing, or standing for extended periods. 
• Must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time.
• Be able to climb ladder and traverse roofs at times.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend and perform moderate travel.
