We are looking for a Project Manager, Commercial Solar to lead commercial solar and energy infrastructure projects across the Los Angeles market, with a strong focus on utility coordination, permitting, and full project execution ownership.
This role operates within a fast-paced commercial solar EPC and energy contractor environment, managing projects from preconstruction through final inspection and PTO while coordinating field teams, subcontractors, utilities, and internal stakeholders. The ideal candidate brings strong technical project leadership experience within commercial solar, understands Southern California utility and jurisdictional processes, and can independently drive projects forward with minimal oversight. This position plays a critical role in improving execution efficiency, reducing operational bottlenecks, and supporting continued company growth.
Responsibilities
- Oversee commercial solar and energy projects from planning, permitting, construction, inspection, and PTO completion
- Manage project schedules, subcontractors, field crews, procurement coordination, and installation sequencing across multiple active projects
- Interface directly with utilities, AHJs, inspectors, and internal teams to keep projects moving through permitting and interconnection processes
- Review construction drawings, electrical plans, specifications, and project documentation to ensure execution accuracy
- Track project budgets, change orders, material flow, and installation progress to maintain schedule and profitability targets
- Coordinate field operations and office communication to ensure crews, vendors, and stakeholders remain aligned throughout project delivery
- Identify and resolve project risks, utility delays, inspection issues, and field challenges before they impact timelines
- Maintain project reporting, documentation, compliance records, and client communication throughout the project lifecycle
- Support leadership by independently driving technical and operational execution across commercial solar projects
- Assist with process improvements that increase project throughput, execution quality, and operational efficiency
Qualifications
- 7 years of project management experience within commercial solar, renewable energy, electrical contracting, or EPC environments
- Strong experience managing commercial solar projects through permitting, construction, inspection, and PTO
- Direct experience working with LADWP, Southern California Edison, or other Southern California utility/jurisdiction processes strongly preferred
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, electrical plans, and technical project documentation
- Experience managing both field operations and office-side project coordination responsibilities
- Strong understanding of utility interconnection, permitting workflows, scheduling, and construction sequencing
- Commercial solar project experience is required; residential-only experience will not be sufficient for this role
- Must have direct project ownership experience rather than purely administrative or coordinator-level exposure
