A leading international financial institution is seeking a Bilingual Financial Analyst to join its Japanese Corporate Banking team in New York.
This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career finance professional to build a career in Corporate Banking, Credit Analysis, and Portfolio Management. The role offers broad exposure to financial analysis, commercial lending, and credit underwriting while working with Japanese corporate clients operating in the U.S.
The successful candidate will work closely with Relationship Managers, Credit Administration, and other internal stakeholders to support sound credit decisions and manage a portfolio of corporate clients.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Analysis & Portfolio Management
- Perform financial analysis and periodic credit reviews for assigned corporate clients
- Analyze companies' financial performance, cash flow, industry trends, and business risks
- Prepare detailed financial and credit analysis reports and credit approval packages
- Assist in evaluating credit risk and recommending appropriate internal risk ratings
- Manage assigned portfolio and ensure timely completion of annual reviews and other required credit actions
- Develop an understanding of commercial banking products, including loans, trade finance, foreign exchange, derivatives, securitization, and leasing
- Communicate with Relationship Managers and, when appropriate, directly with clients regarding financial and credit-related matters
- Coordinate with internal departments to ensure timely credit administration
- Monitor covenant compliance, reporting requirements, facility maturities, and other ongoing portfolio obligations
- Perform other financial and credit-related duties as assigned
Deal Support
- Support new lending opportunities from the financial and credit analysis perspectives
- Analyze proposed transaction structures and identify key financial and credit risks
- Assist in recommending appropriate loan structures, terms, and financial covenants
- Work closely with Relationship Managers and Credit Administration throughout the credit approval process
Risk Management & Complia
- Ensure compliance with applicable banking regulations and internal credit policies
- Support portfolio monitoring, regulatory reporting, and other risk management initiatives
- Participate in ongoing improvements to credit risk management processes
- Provide support and guidance to junior team members, when appropriate
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field
- Approximately 1–3 years of professional experience in Finance, Accounting, Banking, Corporate Finance, Financial Analysis, Consulting, or another related field
- Candidates pursuing or holding a CPA, CFA, or MBA are encouraged to apply
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret financial statements
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Business-level proficiency in both Japanese and English
Preferred
- Experience in commercial banking, corporate banking, credit analysis, treasury, FP&A, public accounting, or consulting
- Interest in developing a career in corporate banking and credit analysis
- Knowledge of commercial lending products and banking operations
Salary : $90,000 - $120,000
