What are the responsibilities and job description for the Route Shipping Group Leader - Swing Shift position at Alpha Baking Company?
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and oversee general shipping activities and manage the shipping staff.
- Ensure the smooth operation of the shipping department.
- Supervise the loading and unloading of trucks, including physically moving bread/bun stacks to the shipping dock.
- Handle repetitive product movement for depot locations and shuttle bread trays and materials to staging areas.
- Unload semi-trailers, inspect incoming shipments, manage discrepancies, and load cased bread/bun products onto pallets.
- Operate electric pallet jacks and stretch wrap banders.
- Manage computer functions for tracking goods, create shipping labels, and maintain accurate shipping records.
- Collaborate effectively with the dispatch department.
Qualifications:
- Detail-oriented with strong multitasking skills.
- Thrives in a fast-paced environment with a proven ability to solve problems.
- Excellent communication and follow-up skills.
- Proficient in managing day-to-day operations and using computer systems.
Physical Requirements:
- Constant standing and walking on concrete floors and trailer beds.
- Frequent pushing/pulling of transport racks and bread trays.
- Regular bending, stooping, twisting, reaching, lifting, and carrying.
- Handling and grasping bakery product trays, transport racks, and boxes.
- Frequently lifting and/or moving items up to 50 lbs.
