Role:

The Chief Information Officer (CIO) supports the Credit Union's mission and member promise by providing strategic leadership and oversight of technology, cybersecurity, enterprise data, and information systems. The use of the title "Chief" reflects leadership of a major functional area and is not intended to signify membership on the Credit Union's executive leadership team. The CIO serves as the organization's technology leader and trusted advisor, responsible for developing and executing technology strategies that support long-term organizational growth, operational efficiency, innovation, regulatory compliance, risk management, and business continuity. The CIO ensures technology investments align with the Credit Union's strategic objectives and enable exceptional service to members and employees.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership & Talent Development:

Provides support to the Executive Leadership Team and Board as requested and collaborates with Executive Leadership Team members to develop and strengthen cross-functional teams that advance organizational goals.

Technology Operations, Infrastructure, & Operational Health:

Oversee enterprise infrastructure, networks, telecommunications, cloud environments, and core technology systems. Ensure high availability, scalability, and reliability of all technology platforms. Maintain disaster recovery and business continuity capabilities. Develop infrastructure modernization plans. Monitor operational health, system capacity, and service delivery. Establish service level expectations and operational standards. Ensure technology environments support business continuity and growth.

Cybersecurity, Information Security, & Regulatory Compliance:

Serve as AAACU Information Security Officer and oversee the Credit Union’s information security program, including data protection, security controls, regulatory compliance, risk management, threat monitoring, and cybersecurity reporting to executive leadership and the Board.

Provide strategic direction for technology business continuity and disaster recovery to ensure critical systems, data, infrastructure, and vendors are resilient, recoverable, regularly tested, and aligned with enterprise risk objectives.

Oversee incident response and cyber resilience, including timely identification, escalation, communication, containment, and resolution of technology incidents, outages, and cybersecurity events.

Ensure compliance with FFIEC, NCUA, GLBA, and applicable regulatory requirements and industry standards. Maintain technology-related policies and procedures, and coordinate technology support for internal and external audits and examinations.

Data, Analytics & Project Management:

Set standards for data quality, security, and access. Oversee reporting, analytics, and business intelligence to support clear, data-driven decisions. Identify opportunities to improve processes through automation, artificial intelligence, and better use of technology.

Manage enterprise technology projects and priorities. Prioritize technology initiatives and oversee project work to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and deliver expected business results.

Vendor Management:

Manage strategic technology vendor relationships. Lead technology contract negotiations. Monitor vendor performance and service levels. Conduct vendor due diligence and risk assessments. Ensure vendors meet cybersecurity and regulatory expectations.

Innovation and Artificial Intelligence:

Foster a culture of innovation across the Credit Union by evaluating emerging financial technologies, leading pilot programs, and identifying technology solutions that improve security, efficiency, member value, and organizational performance.

Provide strategic direction for AI, data, and emerging technology initiatives by setting governance, security, risk, and compliance standards. Partner with executive leaders to implement solutions that strengthen decision-making, operations, member experience, and innovation.

Digital Transformation:

Lead the Credit Union’s technology strategy and operations, ensuring secure, reliable, and scalable technology solutions that support organizational priorities. Collaborate with executive leadership to shape and advance digital transformation initiatives by providing technology expertise, strategic insight, and innovative solutions that enhance member service, employee productivity, and operational performance.

Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Performance Measurements:

1. Provide assistance to the President/CEO and Board as requested and works in conjunction with CXO to build cross functional teams.

2. Make a significant contribution toward meeting the credit union's operational and financial goals and objectives.

3. Maintain an engaged, highly qualified staff, sufficient to meet long-term organizational goals.

4. Ensure operating policies and procedures are enforced and practiced by all employees.

5. Develop recommendations for cost efficiencies and enhancements to products, processes and services by monitoring trends in operations.

6. Ensure budgeted goals are achieved and cost objectives are met.

7. Ensure direct reports achieve 100% of all their individual goals.

8. Empowers staff engagement thru effective leadership, communication and excellent people skills.

Knowledge and Skills:

Experience Eight to ten years of similar or related experience.

Education (1) A bachelor's degree, or (2) achievement of formal certifications recognized in the industry as equivalent to a bachelor's degree (e.g., information technology certifications in lieu of a degree).

Interpersonal Skills Work frequently involves exercising advanced conflict resolution, giving material presentations, and resolving issues impacting multiple departments or divisions. Role also requires the ability to motivate or influence others as a material part of the role, with a significant level of diplomacy and trust. Obtaining cooperation (internally and/or externally) is an important part of the role and a high level of interpersonal skills is critical to the success of this position.
