What are the responsibilities and job description for the Teacher Assistant/ Paraprofessional position at ALOIS?
You must have:
- Completed a RIDE-approved Teacher Assistant Pre-Employment Training Program, OR qualify under an applicable RIDE exception.
- Successfully passed the ParaPro Assessment, OR
- Completed at least 2 years of study at an institution of higher education, OR
- Obtained an Associate's degree or higher.
RIDE Training Exceptions
- Were hired as a Teacher Assistant before January 1, 1999.
- Hold Teacher Assistant certification from another state.
- Have an Associate's or Bachelor's degree and completed coursework or other training consistent with the Teacher Assistant program standards, subject to district approval.
Responsibilities
- Assist teachers with classroom activities and student learning.
- Provide individual and small-group student support.
- Help students with daily classroom routines and activities.
- Support students who require additional assistance.
- Maintain a safe, positive, and supportive classroom environment.
- Follow teacher and school administration instructions.
- Assist with student supervision and school activities.
- Maintain student confidentiality and professionalism.
- Work cooperatively with teachers, administrators, and other school staff.
Candidate Qualifications
- Previous experience working with children or students preferred.
- Paraprofessional, Teacher Assistant, Personal Care Assistant, childcare, or special education experience is a plus.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patient, dependable, and responsible.
- Ability to work Monday–Friday.
- Must be available to start in September 2026.
- Must be able to work onsite in Woonsocket, RI.
Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
