Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Rendering Maintenance Manager to lead maintenance operations at an industrial processing facility in Millsboro, Delaware.

This position is ideal for a maintenance professional with direct rendering industry experience, strong technical expertise, and demonstrated success leading maintenance teams in a demanding, 24/7 operating environment.

The successful candidate will oversee maintenance personnel, equipment reliability, preventive and corrective maintenance programs, budgets, and continuous improvement initiatives while promoting a safe, dependable, and team-oriented work environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, supervise, coach, and develop maintenance supervisors, mechanics, technicians, and contractors.
• Oversee preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs to improve equipment reliability and minimize downtime.
• Troubleshoot equipment failures, conduct root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
• Manage maintenance planning, scheduling, budgets, expenditures, and resources.
• Monitor equipment availability, downtime, maintenance costs, and preventive maintenance completion.
• Enforce safety standards, including OSHA requirements, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), confined space entry, and hot work procedures.
• Ensure compliance with applicable environmental regulations and company safety policies.
• Manage contractors, equipment installations, capital improvement projects, and maintenance upgrades.
• Collaborate with Operations, Engineering, Environmental, and Safety teams to improve plant performance.
• Establish performance expectations, encourage accountability, and support employee training and development.
• Provide on-call leadership support for maintenance emergencies and operational issues at a facility that operates 24/7.

Required Qualifications

• 7–10 years of industrial maintenance experience.
• 3–5 years of maintenance leadership or supervisory experience, consistent with the requirements outlined in the job description.
• Direct rendering industry experience.
• Proven experience leading maintenance employees and managing contractors.
• Experience overseeing maintenance programs, budgets, and cost-control initiatives.
• Strong mechanical troubleshooting, problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills.
• Ability and willingness to provide on-call support when operational issues arise.
• A positive attitude, dependability, adaptability, and a commitment to team development.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in rendering, poultry processing, food manufacturing, feed manufacturing, or similar industrial environments.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Industrial Technology, Maintenance Management, or a related field.
• Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS), reliability-centered maintenance, and predictive maintenance technologies.
• Experience managing capital projects and implementing continuous improvement initiatives.
