Almost Kin is growing and seeking compassionate, reliable Personal Care Attendants (PCAs) to join our Personal Services Agency team. PCAs help clients remain safe, supported, and independent in their homes by providing non-medical assistance and companionship with dignity and respect.
About the Role
The Personal Care Attendant provides hands-on support with daily living tasks, safety, and household activities. This is a non-medical position regulated under the Indiana Personal Services Agency (PSA) guidelines (IC 16-27-1). PCAs work under the supervision of the Executive Director or designated supervisor and play a meaningful part in helping clients thrive in their homes.
This position in specific has dedicated hours: Tuesday and Wednesday from 5-7:30PM and assistance on weekend afternoons.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with non-medical personal care including bathing assistance, grooming support, dressing help, and personal hygiene tasks.
- Provide companionship and emotional support to clients.
- Help with mobility assistance, walking, and safe transfers (non-skilled).
- Perform household services such as light housekeeping, laundry, organizing, and meal preparation.
- Provide medication reminders (no administration).
- Assist with errands, grocery shopping, escorting to appointments, and community activities as needed.
- Ensure home safety, monitor client well-being, and communicate concerns to leadership.
- Document services provided in accordance with agency policy and PSA standards.
- Maintain professional boundaries and uphold client privacy and HIPAA expectations.
- Follow all Almost Kin policies, safety procedures, and training requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Must be 18 years or older, per Indiana PSA regulations.
- Valid driver’s license, reliable personal transportation, and current auto insurance.
- Ability to pass Indiana fingerprint background check.
- Current TB test or ability to obtain one prior to start date.
- Strong communication, reliability, and a genuine compassion for helping others.
- Ability to lift (with client assistance), transfer, or assist clients safely as required by individual care needs (non-skilled assistance).
- Ability to work independently and maintain a positive, professional demeanor in client homes.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in caregiving, personal care, home health, or CNA/HHA work (not required).
- Familiarity with supporting older adults and individuals with disabilities.
- Experience documenting services or using a mobile app for shift notes.
