Almost Kin is expanding our Skilled Care and Home Health services, and we are seeking a compassionate, dependable, and Indiana-Certified Home Health Aide (CHHA) to join our growing team. Our HHA's play a vital role in delivering high-quality care, supporting independence, and ensuring safety for clients throughout Southern Indiana.
About the Role
The Home Health Aide (HHA) provides hands-on personal care and supportive services under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and in compliance with Indiana State Department of Health (ISDH) and Indiana Medicaid/IHCP regulations. This position requires professionalism, strong communication skills, and a genuine heart for caring for others.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide personal care services including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility assistance.
- Perform simple household tasks essential to client safety and comfort (light housekeeping, meal prep, linen changes).
- Take vital signs, observe client condition, and report changes to the supervising RN.
- Follow the individualized Plan of Care as developed and updated by clinical leadership.
- Document all care provided according to Indiana Home Health Aide Code (410 IAC 17) and agency policy.
- Assist with safe ambulation, transfers, and use of assistive devices.
- Support clients with exercises and activities as directed by care plan.
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA and all confidentiality standards.
- Provide companionship, emotional support, and a respectful presence in the home.
- Participate in ongoing training and competency evaluations as required by state regulations.
Required Qualifications
- Active Indiana Home Health Aide Certification, meeting all requirements under 410 IAC 17-14.
Must have completed:
- A state-approved HHA training program (minimum 75 hours: 59 classroom 16 clinical).
- Competency evaluation approved by the ISDH.
- Current Tuberculosis (TB) test (or willingness to obtain).
- Ability to pass a background screening.
- Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and auto insurance.
- CPR certification preferred (or willingness to obtain).
- Strong communication, time management, and interpersonal skills.
- Compassionate, reliable, and able to work independently.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in home health or facility-based care.
- Knowledge of Medicaid Waiver, Medicare, or IHCP documentation standards.
- Familiarity with EMR charting systems.
