Overview
The primary responsibility of the Forklift Operator is to operate industrial trucks or tractors equipped to move materials around a warehouse, storage yard, factory, or similar location. The secondary responsibility of the Forklift Operator is to manually move freight, stock, or other materials, or perform other general labor. The final responsibility of the Forklift Operator is to perform any combination of light cleaning duties to maintain warehouse, storage yard, factory, or similar location in a clean and orderly manner.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Operate vehicles or material-moving equipment.
· Load shipments, belongings, or materials.
· Position material handling equipment.
· Secure cargo.
· Communicate with others to coordinate material handling or movement.
· Inspect cargo areas for cleanliness or condition.
· Move materials, equipment, or supplies.
· Mark materials or objects for identification.
· Weigh materials to ensure compliance with specifications.
· Clean vehicles or vehicle components.
· Maintain vehicles in good working condition.
· Install parts, assemblies, or attachments in transportation or material handling equipment.
· Sort materials or objects for processing or transport.
· Receive information or instructions for performing work assignments.
· Review work orders or schedules to determine operations or procedures.
· Record operational or production data.
· Monitor cargo area conditions.
· Clean facilities or work areas.
· Connect cables or electrical lines.
· Shovel materials.
· Maintain facilities.
· Set up material handling gear or equipment, such as rigging, packaging, or temporary structures.
· Maintain material moving equipment in good working condition.
· Clean equipment or supplies.
· Clean building walls or flooring.
· Dispose of trash or waste materials.
· Other duties assigned as needed.
Education and Experience
§ High School Diploma
§ 1-3 years’ forklift operator experience
§ 1-3 years’ experience in manufacturing environment
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out complex written and oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving few concrete variables in standardized situations. Exceptional organization skills required. Ability to recognize and resolve problems quickly using sound judgement and diplomacy. Ability to speak, give instruction and write in Spanish.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear, use repetitive motion, type, use ten key, and keyboard.
