Job Overview
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Professional Tennis Instructor to join our team starting this Summer. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in tennis coaching and a commitment to fostering a positive learning environment for students of all ages and skill levels, as young as 6 years old. You will work with the Director of Racquet Sports to help enhance the member experience of the tennis community at Almaden Swim and Racquet Club.
Duties
- Run junior clinics and maintain a high energy, fun environment.
- Run your own adult clinics and private lessons.
- Develop and implement engaging lesson plans tailored to the skill levels of individual students or groups.
- Provide constructive feedback to students to help them improve their skills and confidence on the court.
- Monitor student progress and adjust teaching methods as necessary to meet their needs.
- Maintain equipment and ensure that the courts are safe and ready for use.
Skills
- Experience working with juniors or adults in a coaching or educational capacity is essential.
- Strong background in sports coaching, particularly in tennis.
- Ability to manage behavior effectively in a group setting, ensuring all participants feel included and motivated.
- Ability to plan drills effectively so there is little down time.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to educate students clearly and effectively.
- A passion for sports and physical activity, with the ability to inspire others to develop their skills.
Requirements
- Ability to work with kids aged 6-14
- Some tennis knowledge and playing experience (the higher the better)
- Character referrals for past or current coaching positions (not required but helpful)
- CPR/First Aid Certification (Can acquire after hire)
- USPTA/PTR Certification (Can acquire after hire)
You could potentially be looking at a full time position if you can fill out your day and network with our 300 members. You will start with 5 hours per day in the Summer. The schedule is 9:00 am-12:00 pm, and then 4:00 pm-6:00 pm. This position will be entirely what you make it!
