Position Summary
The Material Handler ensures proper and timely flow of all materials and products from arrival until stored or shipped, following established policies and procedures. This role performs the physical and administrative tasks involved in shipping, receiving, order fulfillment, storing, and distributing of materials, parts, supplies, and equipment while complying with safety regulations.
Core Responsibilities
- Receive, stock, and disburse parts and materials.
- Load and unload trucks; deliver parts, materials, and supplies to team members as required.
- Unpack and check goods received against purchase orders or invoices.
- Maintain records of received goods; reject unsatisfactory items as needed.
- Examine stocks and distribute materials in inventory and on manufacturing lines.
- Prepare and maintain shipping records.
- Post weights, shipping charges, and prepare goods for final shipment.
- Support cycle counting and wall-to-wall inventory audits.
- Demonstrate and comply with all safety policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Maintain regular, consistent, and punctual attendance (may require nights, weekends, variable schedules, and additional hours).
Job Specifications
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Experience: Minimum 2 years of relevant stockroom/receiving experience in a manufacturing environment.
Certifications: Vocational training, apprenticeships, or equivalent experience in related field preferred.
Required Skills & Must Haves
- 2 years of stockroom and receiving experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to operate a computer and follow written work instructions/procedures.
- Ability to recognize and solve common problems in work area.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and database management tools.
- Skilled in cycle counting and use of powered industrial trucks/material handling equipment.
Nice to Haves
- SAP experience.
- Shipping experience.
- Cycle counting and inventory audit knowledge.
