Job Summary
We are seeking a passionate and creative Art Instructor to join our educational team. The ideal candidate will inspire students of all ages through engaging art lessons, foster creativity, and develop their artistic skills. Prior university experience is preferred to enhance the quality of instruction and curriculum development.
Responsibilities
- Design and deliver engaging art lessons focused on visual arts, including drawing techniques, painting, color theory, and hands-on crafts, specifically for children and adolescents.
- Foster a positive, safe, and inclusive learning environment that encourages creativity and self-expression among young students.
- Prepare and provide all instructional materials, art supplies, and project resources needed for each class session.
- Demonstrate and teach step-by-step techniques to support students’ artistic development and confidence.
- Provide constructive, age-appropriate feedback to guide student progress and skill improvement.
- Monitor and document student participation, progress, and attendance as required.
- Collaborate with program staff to enhance lesson plans, develop new project ideas, and maintain consistency across sessions.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace at all times, ensuring proper use of tools and materials by students.
Educational Degrees (Preferred):
- Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA)
- Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Visual Arts
- Bachelor’s degree in Art Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts or related Visual Arts field
- Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 30 semester hours in Art
Qualifications
- Ability to teach painting, drawing, mixed media, and hands-on crafts (no digital film or production arts)
- Must provide and manage all instructional materials and supplies
- Ability to work effectively with children and adolescents
- Level 2 Background Check (FDLE/FBI) and CPR/First Aid or willingness to obtain
- Strong classroom management and communication skills
- Proven experience teaching art or working with students in an educational setting
- Strong knowledge of various art techniques, mediums, and styles
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to inspire and motivate students
- Creative mindset with the ability to adapt lessons to diverse learning needs
- Passion for fostering artistic growth and encouraging self-expression in students
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team of educators and staff
Pay: $50.00 per hour
Expected hours: 50.0 per week
