POSITION: Communications and Marketing Coordinator – (Contract Position)
REPORTS TO: Superintendent
JOB SUMMARY: We are seeking a highly motivated and innovative student-centered Communications and Marketing Coordinator to support Alma Public Schools in developing and marketing strategies to elevate the school’s brand, engage key audiences, and support the school’s mission and goals.
QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or journalism
- Strong writing and editing skills
- Proficiency in graphic design software, social media management, and experience
with content management systems
- Strong organizational, multitasking, and project management skills
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively and a commitment to
the school’s mission
KEY
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Communicating Our Mission:
- Capture the school’s mission with staff, students, and the general public by
encouraging participation and building a positive culture district-wide.
- Develop and maintain productive working relationships with staff, students, alumni,
coaches, and parents to reinforce the school’s communication goals.
Video Production & Editing:
- Serve as the school’s key video production resource.
- Capture high-quality photos and videos at school events to be utilized across
promotional materials, the website, newsletters, publications, and social media.
Branding and Content Creation:
- Create, enhance, and maintain content on school web pages, including the addition
of updated resources, connected features, and visually interesting designs.
- Utilize AI to strengthen communication, content generation, and unique story
narration.
- Develop and disperse marketing materials that acknowledge staff, students,
programs, and our wonderful Alma community.
- Monitor school-affiliated and third-party social media channels to perpetuate brand
recognition and ensure alignment with the school’s core values.
Social Media & Website Management:
- Create, post, and manage content for school and alumni social media accounts utilizing consistent design sensibility and a well thought out approach to story
explanation and engagement.
- Monitor engagement and district interaction to ensure timely, accurate, and
mission-aligned communications.
- Submit and oversee external advertising placements, press releases and other
media outreach. Make certain promotional messages align with the school’s goals
and mission and encourage community interaction.
Data Collection & Management Reporting:
- Provide routine reporting to the Superintendent to advise on pivotal decisions.
Event & Recognition Support:
- Collaborate with school departments to support communications, signage,
promotion, and media coverage for key school events.
CTE Program Marketing & Millage Awareness:
- Create and disperse marketing materials that promote the array of CTE programs
offered by Alma Public Schools in collaboration with CTE management.
- Promotion of public understanding of the CTE millage when appropriate.
Other Duties & Responsibilities:
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent.
COMPENSATION: $25/hour, Contract Position
BEGINNING DATE: Contract role: (January 1, 2026 – December 31, 2026) to be renewed annually,
hybrid position and flexible hours
