Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Wellness Registered Nurse (RN) to join our multidisciplinary healthcare team. The Wellness RN will play a vital role in providing comprehensive health assessments, patient education, and personalized wellness plans within a dynamic healthcare environment. Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough patient assessments, including vital signs, medical history, and physical examinations, utilizing advanced EMR (Electronic Medical Records) and EHR (Electronic Health Records) systems such as Epic and Cerner.
- Administer injections, including botulinum toxin treatments and other injectable therapies, following aseptic techniques and safety protocols.
- Manage acute pain and chronic condition care through medication administration, IV infusion therapy, wound suturing, and catheterization procedures.
- Provide health coaching and education on wellness strategies, nutrition, medication management, and disease prevention tailored to individual needs.
- Collaborate with physicians and specialists in areas such as ophthalmology, cardiology, infectious disease care, geriatrics, behavioral health, and hospice & palliative medicine to coordinate patient care plans.
- Assist with diagnostic evaluations including laboratory specimen collection/processing, radiologic procedures like sonography or mammography support as needed.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations by maintaining confidentiality of medical records and documentation accuracy.
- Support discharge planning processes and long-term care initiatives within assisted living facilities or nursing homes.
- Participate in triage activities for urgent health concerns in outpatient or urgent care settings.
- Maintain proficiency in advanced nursing skills such as ventilator management, ostomy care, gastrostomy feeding, and infection control practices.
Skills
- Extensive experience with EMR/EHR systems including Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks.
- Proficiency in performing medical procedures such as IV insertion, phlebotomy, tube feeding management, sterile processing techniques, and suturing.
- Knowledge of ICD-10/ICD-9 coding for accurate documentation and billing processes.
- Strong understanding of physiology principles related to acute care, ICU practices, trauma medicine (Level I & II trauma centers), and emergency medicine protocols.
- Experience working with diverse populations including pediatrics (neonatal ventilator care), geriatrics (memory/dementia/dementia care), individuals with disabilities or developmental disabilities.
- Familiarity with Workers' Compensation law for occupational health services.
- Ability to perform comprehensive patient assessments focusing on vital signs, anatomy knowledge, diagnostic evaluation skills.
- Skilled in medication administration including injections and IV therapy while adhering to aseptic techniques.
- Excellent communication skills for patient education across age groups from toddlers to seniors.
- Knowledge of infection control standards and HIPAA compliance requirements.
- Capable of working effectively in fast-paced environments such as hospitals (including trauma centers), outpatient clinics, or home & community care settings.
