The Opportunity
The position offers the opportunity to design forward-thinking category strategies, lead high-impact sourcing initiatives, and collaborate with senior stakeholders to ensure alignment with business goals. Additionally, the successful candidate will help drive efficiency, enhance supplier performance, and promote disciplined, risk-aware procurement practices.
Through strategic insight and strong relationship management, this manager will contribute to a culture of transparency, innovation, and continuous improvement, delivering measurable value across cost, quality, and risk management while elevating Ally’s professional services ecosystem.
The Work Itself
- Leading the development and execution of commodity strategies, competitive bid processes, contract negotiations, vendor management, and risk assessments for professional services.
- Support the recruiting, training, and managing a team of sourcing consultants with deep expertise in ADM contracts, consulting engagements, training and development master agreements, and Statements of Work.
- Overseeing the transition of all professional services external labor classes and contractors onto the Coupa CCW platform, ensuring standardized onboarding/offboarding, improved data governance, analytics, reporting, and cost savings.
- Serving as a recognized expert in professional services and external labor spend categories, proactively developing strategies to enhance service quality, reduce costs, and drive innovation.
- Managing high-impact supplier relationships and supporting critical business lines through effective sourcing activities.
- Collaborating with internal stakeholders, including Legal, Information Security, Third Party Risk Management, HR, Data Privacy, Compliance, Finance, and other sourcing teams, to execute sourcing strategies, negotiate contracts, and manage supplier partnerships.
- Facilitating fact-based sourcing processes and negotiation strategies to maximize business value and mitigate risk.
- Supporting end-to-end supplier relationship management, including issue resolution, risk management, contract inventory, performance scorecards, and negotiation strategies.
- Enabling supplier risk management activities across all lines of business.
- Driving continuous process, policy, and performance improvements across all areas of responsibility.
- Cultivating an environment that values transparency, performance, risk management, innovation, integrity, and teamwork.
The Skills You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or advanced degree strongly preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in strategic sourcing, negotiation, and procurement management, ideally within the financial services industry.
- Strong proficiency in business and industry analysis, financial modeling, supplier selection and management, contract negotiations, conflict resolution, and strategic decision-making.
- Demonstrated success leading complex sourcing projects, running RFx/auctions, and negotiating large-scale third-party supply contracts.
- Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to develop, interpret, and present complex cost models, business cases, and strategic plans.
- Outstanding persuasion and communication abilities, with a talent for building strong relationships across all levels of the organization.
- Comfortable thriving in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, with the ability to manage multiple priorities seamlessly with track record of delivering industry-leading results on large projects involving multiple stakeholders.
- Agility and resilience in handling challenging situations with clients and vendors with a collaborative mindset and experience working with cross-functional teams to achieve shared goals.
- Advanced problem-solving skills and the ability to organize and analyze data effectively using Microsoft Excel to support sourcing decisions and reporting.
- Experience with procurement software platforms such as Coupa, Ariba, or related is required.
- Hands-on experience using Microsoft PowerPoint, Power BI and/or Tableau for developing, maintaining, and presenting interactive presentations, dashboards, and reports related to sourcing activities, supplier performance, and spend analysis.
