What are the responsibilities and job description for the Plant Controller position at Alltrista Plastics LLC?
Position Summary
Serves as the proactive financial controller/leader on the plant management team and support JPS financial directives with accurate and prompt sales and financial forecasting, reporting and analysis.
Primary Functions
- Maintains the Cost Accounting system for the plant. This includes but is not limited to, maintaining updated quotes and standards for all raw materials and finished goods,reconciling WIP GL balance to the subledger, monitoring and researching variances as needed, ensuring that the inventory GL balances tie to the inventorysubledger.
- Maintains General Ledge for the plant. Ensuresadherence to accounting policies and procedures.
- Perform subledger reconciliations, maintain records on all company transactions and assets in compliance with GAAP and company policy.
- Prepares and develops operating budgets and financial forecasts, institutes and maintains other planning an controlprocedures (including the cost accounting system), and analyzesand reports variances.
- Responsible for the accuracy of the manufacturing cost system and for improvements to accuracy.
- Directs and coordinates the financial affairs of the facility with Division support and prepares financial analyses of operations, including interim and periodic financial statements with supporting schedules, for the guidance of management.
- Leads the weeklyand monthly sales forecasting effortsfor the plant.
- Maintains a fixed asset and capital spendingreporting system.
- Performs financial analysis of capital projects and preparescapital request and ROI support documentation in accordance with Division procedures.
- Supports the team environment by performing all individual assignments as management may direct.
- Promotes a proactiveand aggressive attitudetowards continuous improvement at the facility.
Key Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
- Three to five years of experience in general accounting in a manufacturing facility
- Six to twelve years of experience in the proactivecompilations and analysisof financial information using spreadsheets, databases, and other financial reportingsoftware.
- Must be able to work with a high degree of independence. Must be able to providestrong financial leadership to the plant.
- Working knowledge of thefollowing areas: business principles, legal practices, accounting practices, budgeting principles, and computer information system.
- Must be able to handleand safeguard sensitive and proprietary information in a confidential manner.
