Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Forklift Operator/Material Handler to join our team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for efficiently managing materials movement within our warehouse, ensuring safe operation of various equipment, and supporting overall warehouse operations. Your proactive approach will help maintain a smooth workflow, uphold safety standards, and contribute to our company’s success in delivering quality automotive parts.
Responsibilities
- Operate a variety of material handling equipment including forklifts (reach truck, lift truck, Hi-Lo), pallet jacks, clamp trucks, and barcode scanners to load, unload, and transport materials
- Safely load and unload shipments while adhering to OSHA and forklift safety protocols
- Manage inventory using warehouse management systems and perform order picking with precision
- Conduct routine equipment inspections and perform basic repairs or notify maintenance for repairs needed
- Assist with shipping and receiving processes, ensuring accurate documentation and barcode scanning for logistics
- Support warehouse distribution activities by organizing stock and maintaining clean work areas
- Follow manual handling procedures for heavy lifting tasks to prevent injuries
Qualifications
- Proven experience operating forklifts (reach truck, Hi-Lo) and other material handling equipment in a warehouse setting
- Knowledge of warehouse management systems (WMS) and barcode scanning technology
- Familiarity with warehouse safety standards including OSHA regulations and forklift safety protocols
- Ability to perform manual handling tasks involving heavy lifting with proper technique
- Basic math skills for inventory counting and documentation accuracy
- Strong understanding of warehouse operations including shipping & receiving processes
- Previous experience in warehouse management or supervision is a plus but not required
